Seasonal farm flowers grown in Nelson
At Gina's Garden, we celebrate the changing seasons with a large array of farm-grown flowers. All our Spring and Summer annuals are grown from seed that we sow at home. We source our seeds from a range of specialty seed retailers and save some of our own.
In Spring we have daffodils, snapdragons, ranunculus and sweet peas along with many other Spring annuals. In the warmth of Summer our cutting garden is filled with dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, strawflowers and all kinds of celosia.
Gina’s Garden is about experiencing local, seasonal flowers.
Hi, I'm Gina! I'm thrilled to share my passion for growing and picking flowers with you. My dream of creating a family-friendly, pick-your-own flower farm and event space in the beautiful Nelson/Tasman region is finally taking shape.
I'm excited to share Gina's Garden with you and hope this website inspires you to create your own flourishing cut flower garden or visit mine!
My love for flowers started years ago, but it wasn't until I discovered Louise Curley's book "The Cut Flower Patch" that I became hooked on growing my own. Since then, my garden has grown exponentially – three expansions and counting! It even spilled over into the neighbor's yard at one point. The flower book collection also seems to be expanding. But all that experience has prepared me for this moment.
Gina’s Garden is based on sustainable gardening practices.
We're passionate about sustainable gardening practices that work in harmony with nature, minimizing our impact on the environment.
We prioritize soil health using limited digging practices, planting cover crops, applying compost, and mulching to conserve water.
We've adopted an integrated pest management system, welcoming beneficial insects like ladybugs to our garden. We're proud to say we haven't needed to use any pesticides yet!
I'm excited to share my love for composting with you! We compost as much as possible, turning food scraps and plant waste into nutrient-rich soil that benefits our garden. We work in harmony with nature, to minimise our impact.
